Description
For your hard-earned money you are bidding on a vintage fire department silver toned (plated?) button which I believe dates to the second half of the 1800s! I found one very similar online that was made by Scovill out of Waterberry, CT, and although the back of this one is worn, the composition looks very similar so I suspect this one is also made by Scovill. It measures about 16mm diameter, with the faint remnants of what appears to be a Civil War style sunken channel or ‘tire’ style depression. Unusual to find an FD button this early. The shank is bent over, and a little loose, but the front is very nice.
***Please take a good look at the photos! A nice addition to a vintage fireman collection, or find a good home with a button hound.***
